‘He inspired us to start our rescue & we will always be grateful. Giggy’s legacy lives on, with every dog @vanderpumpdogs saves. RIP Giggy, we love you.’

Andy Cohen also offered his condolences on Twitter, writing: ‘I’m so sad to hear about Giggy, the First Dog of Bravo. This takes me all the way back to a lot of amazing memories at the birth of #RHOBH. We’d never seen such a cute dog!!’

The Pomeranian was about 10 years old, as Vanderpump revealed to Bravo in 2018 that he was eight at the time, and had been with her since The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiered in 2010.

Giggy (AKA Gigolo) was diagnosed in 2018 with a heart condition, which required them to wrap him in warm clothing, as she told USA Today this May: ‘We monitor him constantly to make sure he’s well and fit.’

Vanderpump previously revealed to Bravo: ‘He spent a lot of [time] in the hospital, which was very difficult for us because he hated being left behind. But he was kind of in an incubator. He was on a heart monitor. We actually have a pacemaker waiting for him — a tiny, tiny little pacemaker, if he does need it.’

She launched her foundation in 2016, in response to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China, later opening her rescue center Vanderpump Dogs in March of 2017.

The entrepreneur told People last November: ‘I hope that will be my legacy. It’s been a slow gradual awareness, but thanks to the vehicle of a reality show, and Bravo so kindly gave us the airtime, it’s been wonderful.’

Her foundation and rescue center will be the subjects of the upcoming reality series Vanderpump Dogs, a Vanderpump Rules spinoff that will premiere on the NBCUniversal streaming platform Peacock.
